    Link Dump #1

One thing I used to use twitter for is recording links for future reference while simultaneously sharing them with others. I will be trying to use my blog for that purpose now, so here's a link dump. It's worth mentioning that several of these links come from my favorite link blog, Trivium.

    • Steak is a scam -- Slides from a presentation by Steak author Luismi Cavallé
    • Elegant Markdown for a more civilized age  -- Article about RedCarpet 2, which looks like exactly what I need for Bookie.
    • Two way repeater redstone circuit for minecraft -- You can't just connect two redstone repeaters, it seems.
    • Gamification is bullshit -- Funny, and well put.
    • Github wiki sidebars -- Neat feature that I didn't know about. Clone the will_paginate wiki for an example.
    • Programming Achievements: How to level up as a developer  -- Not as cheesy as it sounds, generally good advice.
    • Learn Perl in about 2 hours and 30 minutes -- Caused me to remember lots of things I forgot about Perl in about 15 minutes. Glad to be working in Ruby ;)
    • github:developer -- A good example of documentation done right.
    • Some people understand REST and HTTP -- Steve Klabnik follows up with another post about REST and HTTP. Good stuff
    • Get Some REST -- A book currently being worked on by Steve Klabnik. Excited to see how this turns out.
    • Fiasco: Rules, Dice, Friends, And Trouble -- The rulebook for this game is 130 pages long. Can't decide if that's awesome or WAY too geeky for me.
    • Advice from Patrick McKenzie (via a HN comment) -- Good advice from Patrick about how to be successful software developer. Also hilarious.
    • XKCD: Password Strength -- Sounds like kittens is a bad password, but kittenroboteatsbabies would be a good one.
    • London Riots were the best night of this guy's life -- Peter Cooper says he sounds like he's from A Clockwork Orange. I agree.
